PARROT Patient Information

The PARROT trial is looking to find out whether 12 months of treatment with an antibiotic called azithromycin reduces how often children with neurological impairment (NI) have to stay in hospital with chest infections.

Children included in the PARROT trial will be given either azithromycin or a placebo for 12 months to compare the difference.

We are looking for 500 children and young people aged 3-17 years, with NI who are at risk of chest infections to take part. The trial is taking place in the UK and Australia and each patient will be involved for a maximum of 20 months.
