Professor Dinah Reddihough

Professor Dinah Reddihough is a paediatrician involved in the clinical care of children with disabilities, in particular cerebral palsy. She is the Group Leader of Developmental Disability and Rehabilitation Research at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. Professor Reddihough was the Director of the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Department of Developmental Medicine between 1986 and 2011 and is an Honorary Professorial Fellow in the University of Melbourne. She has 155 peer reviewed publications (141 articles in refereed journals, 14 book chapters) and has won 92 research grants.

Professor Reddihough is actively involved in teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students, and has contributed to a number of community organisations that assist people with disabilities.

Professor Reddihough was responsible for founding the Australasian Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, a multidisciplinary organisation committed to advancing knowledge about physical disability in childhood by conducting scientific meetings and fostering research and evidence based practice. She established the Centre for Developmental Disability Research named “Solve! At the RCH”. This highly successful group developed a strategic plan and obtained funding which led to the establishment of the Apex Chair in Developmental Medicine in 2011, the first Chair in Developmental Medicine in Australia. “Solve! At the RCH” has also secured funding for a second chair from the Lorenzo and Pamela Galli Trust.
The major focus of “Solve! At the RCH” is to increase knowledge in the area of Developmental Medicine and to ensure that research in the field of childhood disability develops an increasing profile at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute, The Royal Children’s Hospital and the University of Melbourne campus now and into the future.
